Visakhapatnam has some of the best and the safest beaches in the entire South Coast line of the country. If you are in the city and do not have enought time to travel long to see the beach, then the R K Beach is your best place to have fun with water. Children can find pure excitement and joy at the VUDA Park, a special park with a right mix of fun with water and a bit of green patches.
Walk the talk with your loved ones looking at the statues of the freedom fighters and other tourist attractions setup on either sides of the beach road. Roll-back into history at the Visakha Museum or be lucky visiting the Submarine Museum, the first Museum in Asia to be build off a Submarine.

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park:
The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is a must visit for anyone touring Visakhapatnam. Located at the outskirts of the city, the Zoo Park is a 30-minute drive from the city centre.
The Zoo has some of the best species of Birds and Animals and other wild life fauna. The Indian special species such as the Indian Elephants and Indian Tiger, the Crocodiles and a whole range of coloured parrots especially from ones brought from Australia are a major attraction at this Zoo.
Temples in visakhapatnam:
The Historic Temple at the Simhachalam, built in the 11th Century, where the Lord Varaha Narasimha Swami's temple is located, resembles the rich cultural heritage Visakhapatnam holds. Located on the Hill top, at a height of 244 mts, popularly called the Hill of the Lion Lord, is the temple of Lord Vishnu in the avatara of Sri Narasimha Swami varu. This great temple built in the 11th century by the King Sri Krishnadevarayam, is one of its kind in the country. Inscriptions on the temple date back to 1098 AD.
Millions of devotees from round the world visit this temple every year especially during the Chandanotsavam Festival Season. On the annual ritual Chandanotsavam day, the Lord is covered with a new fresh layer of Sandalwood.
History says that Prahlada - a devotee of Lord Vishnu was being tortoured by his father. Lord Vishnu in the avatara of Lord Nrusimha kills Prahlada's father and saves the child.
Dharmapuri Sheshachari wrote the Narasimha Satakam - a collection of poems on the Lord.
One can reach Simhachalam from almost any where in Vizag. If you get down at the Waltair Railway Station, you can visit Simhachalam by Bus ( 6A ) or hire a Cab.
Busses numbered 6A and 6A/H start from the Dwaraka Bus Station ( APSRTC Complex ).
If starting from Gajuwaka, you can get Bus numbered 55. And if you want to start from Maddilipalem, get the bus numbered 540.
If you like to have a more comfortable journey, hiring a cab is always a good idea.
Reaching the Hill Top:
You can take up the steps path to reach to the Temple. However, if you and also take up a bus. Simhachalam Devasthanam runs Simhadri Bus Service to take you to the hill top from the foothill. Busses will be available for every 10 minutes and ticket costs Rs. 6/- per adult and Rs. 3/- for a child. The fares are nominal and is worth to go on bus if you are not a professional driver since the roads to the hill are narrow and curviest.
Entertainment spots in vizag:
Kailasagiri Resort Center - located on a hill top is a must visit place and a good short stay location if you are visiting Vizag. Greenery and Fresh Breeze from one side and the beautiful hills round there give a pleasant feeling.

The Araku valley:
The Araku valley, located on the Anatagiri hills at a height of 1,161 mts from Sea Level is the place with the best natural scenery and greenery can be found. The Valley is located 112-Km from Visakhapatnam and has Waterfalls and streams which give a pleasant feeling to the mind. The 17 tribes living in this valley wear colourful dresses and costumes and were untouched with modern civilisations. Their rhythmic songs and tribal dances, the Dhimsa dance in particular are just marvelous. The valley has Cottages and Resorts for tourists who visit here on a week long trip.
Borra Caves,Situated at around 90 Kms from the City by road, Borra caves at the Anantagiri Mandal are one of the best places to visit in Vizag. Borra Caves are enroute to Araku Valley and it many prefer touching both the places in a single go! The Caves are just 29 Km on road from Araku Valley.
Rock at Borra Caves date back to a million years. The Scenic splendor is all visible right from your train journey. Situated at 1400 mts above sea level, Borra Caves were discovered by William King George of the Geological Survey of India in the year 1807.
Gosthani River which originates above the lime stone foundations is given the legendary name GOSTHANI as it resembles the udder of a Cow while flowing out of the caves
Deep in the caves, a Shivalingam and an idol of a Com(Kamadhenu) can be found. The caves are colorfully illuminated with electricity by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation. There are mica mines in and around Borra village and it is believed that there are immense possibilities of mining precious stones like rubies here. A big project known as the Thalipudi Reservoir scheme is being constructed at cost of Rs 4.5 crore across the river Gosthami at Thatipudi.
